Aramid is a premium fibre composite material which is similar to carbon in terms of appearance and how it is worked. In contrast to carbon, components made of it have a high level of electromagnetic permeability. Aramid has a lower density than carbon and is therefore even lighter than carbon. To date, aramid fibres have mainly been used in rally cars (underbody guards) or sailing (carbon-aramid hybrid sales) as well as in ballistic protection for bullet-proof vests and in armoured vehicles.
